Case Study
CrossFields - MDU
Name: CrossFields estate London
Units: 365 THP
Delivery type: Catenary wire via MEWPs and ladders
Connection points: 10 FDPs
Network points: 4 Underground nodes
All cabling works on the estate were carried out using MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) techniques and Tetra ladder systems. The project involved 365 units spread across 10 separate apartment blocks. To complete external cabling works at heights of 5 to 7 storeys, we utilised a specialised 'Spider' MEWP, operated by our IPAF-certified teams under the supervision of an on-ground banksman for safety and coordination.
Our scope included the installation of fibre optic cabling to both the lounge windows and front doors of the designated buildings, ensuring each unit was prepared for future service activation.
The estate is supported by 10 individual Fibre Distribution Points (FDPs), all of which are connected to four underground fibre nodes within the Hyperoptic Hyperzone network. Prior to activation, all PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) and civils construction works were completed to enable the estate to go live with fibre service. Final testing of each FDP was performed using power meters to confirm that fibre light levels met the required specifications for customer connectivity.
As a result, 365 residents across the estate now have access to ultra-fast fibre optic broadband through Hyperoptic, ready to support modern digital living.
