Case Study
Maresfield, Croydon - MDU
Name: Maresfield, Croydon
Units: 76 THP
Delivery type: Catenary wire via Tetra ladder systems
Connection points: 2 FDPs
Network points: On-site EAD Powered cabinet
All cabling works on site were completed using catenary wire installation supported by Tetra ladder systems. The project involved 76 units across two apartment blocks. Catenary wires were installed in alignment with residents' lounge windows to allow for seamless fibre connectivity in the future. Fibre optic cables were then routed, spliced from the relevant Fibre Distribution Points (FDPs), and neatly coiled at each lounge window, ready for activation.
The estate is supported by two separate FDPs, both fed from an on-site EAD-powered cabinet. This cabinet houses a Nokia switch, UPS battery backup systems, and a fibre splice panel. The entire network is powered by an EAD (Ethernet Access Direct) circuit provided through BT’s exchange, allowing light signals to be transmitted through the equipment and directed to the designated FDPs.
All FDPs and cabinet components were tested using calibrated power meters to ensure light loss remained within optimal thresholds, guaranteeing strong signal integrity for future customer connections.
As a result, 76 residents now have access to ultra-fast fibre optic broadband delivered through Hyperoptic’s EAD-powered fibre network—bringing high-speed, reliable internet to every unit on site.
