Case Study
New Eton House - MDU
Name: New Eton House, Slough
Units: 58 THP
Delivery type: EZ bend drop cables above suspended ceiling
Connection points: 2 FDPs
Network points: 1 OLT cabinet
All cabling works at New Eton House, Slough were carried out using internal EZ Bend drop cables routed above suspended ceiling panels throughout the building. The project covered 58 units within a single, large residential development.
Each apartment was fitted with a Point of Entry (POE) connection box, installed above the front door ceiling panel and linked directly to the nearest Fibre Distribution Point (FDP), ensuring each unit is prepared for future fibre activation. Cabling was neatly fixed to the existing metal traywork using both metal and plastic fire-rated cable ties, in full compliance with British fire safety standards. This method ensured secure installation throughout the building while maintaining essential compartmentation and fire protection protocols.
The site is served by two FDPs, both fed from an on-site Optical Line Terminal (OLT) cabinet, installed and configured by Fibre-Net Solutions. The OLT system is powered by a Nokia switch, with fibre distribution delivered through four 1:16-way optical splitters located on the internal splice tray. Fibre coils were tested using an EXFO OTDR to ensure optimal light levels were achieved, confirming the system was ready for customer activation.
As a result, 58 residents at New Eton House now have access to ultra-fast fibre optic broadband through the Hyperoptic Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network—providing dependable, high-speed connectivity designed to support modern digital lifestyles.
