All cabling works at 18–39 Waterside Close, London were delivered using an external drop cable solution via catenary wire. The project comprised 22 units within a large residential building featuring a variety of open balcony layouts.
Each apartment was prepared for future fibre connectivity by installing a 5-metre fibre coil adjacent to the front door, routed directly from the site’s central Fibre Distribution Point (FDP). Drop cables were securely fixed to a catenary wire system, which was anchored to the building’s exterior using eyebolts and hooks. To meet British fire safety standards, all cabling was installed using a combination of metal and fire-rated plastic cable ties, especially in areas surrounding windows, doorways, and other key fire escape routes.
The building is served by a single FDP, fed from an underground fibre aggregation node located in the street. This node provides 22 individual fibre connections via 2:16-way optical splitters, distributing service to each unit’s dedicated drop cable. Final testing of all fibre coils was completed using calibrated power meters to ensure acceptable light levels for future activation.
As a result, 22 residents at Waterside Close now have access to high-speed fibre broadband through the Hyperoptic Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network—bringing ultra-fast, reliable connectivity to every home in the building.
